NEST – La casa in legno si fonde con la foresta

Questa piccola abitazione si insinua all’interno di un tessuto naturale di estrema bellezza. Il sito localizzato ai piedi di una montagna in Giappone, in Onomichi City, è un luogo con poche abitazioni che conserva la sua naturalità originale. Poichè la famiglia comprende tre donne e un gatto molto amato, gli architetti pensarono fosse appropriato rendere gli spazi dell’abitazione maggiormente coesi con gli spazi naturali dell’immediato intorno, permettendo di ridurre lo spazio tra i membri della famiglia. Allo stesso modo in cui le creature costruiscono i loro nidi al di sopra/o presso gli spazi naturali in cui vivono, si è cercato di rendere l’ambiente circostante non diviso dall’edificio, in un connubio che si espande dal nido in una foresta, alla foresta, fino alla Terra, e più metaforicamente all’Universo.

UID architects ha così ideato un unico spazio, che comprende al suo interno l’ambiente e la casa, ripensando elementi come i pavimenti e i muri che interessante questa architettura. Nello specifico nel piano terreno, alcuni spazi sono connessi tra loro da un tunnel che diviene la vera entrata di questo nido, essendo l’elemento di connessione a terra. Sopra il terreno un pavimento sospeso in legno rappresenta il nido nella sua veste ufficiale e formale, composto da rami e foglie che cadono a coprire il nido sulla superficie a terra.

Nonostante questa sequenza non controllata di pavimento e muro, che sembrano elementi architettonici separati, si genera questo legame essenziale con il contesto nella successione di vuoti che vi si creano. La casa offre spazi di relax simili a quelli rintracciabili nell’ombra e nei crepuscoli delle foreste, in cui risiedere con un clima naturale ed incontaminato. La casa è un nido nella foresta il cui territorio non è in alcun modo regolato.

English text: This is a small house planned in a forest surrounded by rich nature. The site is located in the foot of a mountain with scarce neighboring houses in Onomichi City. The family is consisted of two daughters, their mother and their loving cat. Since there are only three women, we thought it would be appropriate to gently connect a boundary of the place’s environment and architecture, allowing close distance between the family members. It is to seize the environment as non-dividable, similar to creatures that generate their nest under elements that cover forest’s ground. It is like a principle that expands from a nest in a forest, to a forest , then to the earth, and ultimately to the universe.
This time we sought a single space that comprehends the surroundings and the house by rethinking elements such as floors and walls that make up architecture. Specifically, in the ground layer some spaces are connected to each other by a tunnel that becomes a concrete anthill nest attached with a small entrance on the ground. Above the ground a floating wooden nest box composed of things like branches and fallen leaves cover the nest on the ground’s surface. Although non-sequence composition of the floors and the walls make the architectural elements look separated, they will become essentials that link architecture and the surrounding in succession, when viewing the environment on the whole. The house will offer spaces that is similar to the forest’s comfortable sunshine and shade, which reside with natural climate.
